Candlelit Matinee - The House of Fairy Tales Film Theatre
For the second year Applecart will play host to a House of Fairy Tales special project. Not only will the magic of the silver screen come to the heart of Victoria Park but the young audience will be able to learn about all aspects of film making from script writing, story-building, set building, costume, special effects and ultimately to their own films and starring in them. All this will happen under one tent roof in a single day in Hackney for hundreds of children and their families from all walks of life.
Penguin Books tent
Penguin books pitch up on the village green for an afternoon of fun and storytelling. On stage the kids can watch their favourite characters come to life in interactive events with Peter Rabbit (we’ll be celebrating his 110th birthday with a puppet show of the Tale of Peter Rabbit), Spot and Ladybird activites including the chance to win a host of goodies. Or just hang out in the library full of your favourite books.
Magic tent
The Apple Cart is the only festival to have a tent dedicated to magicians. Hosted by Gold Star member of the Inner Magic Circle, Richard Pinner, this will be a truly unforgettable day filled with jaw-dropping tricks.
JUBILEE Village fete games
Spend the Sunday of the Jubilee Holiday at The Apple Cart and you won't miss out a bit - whether you're a budding royalist or a die hard republican (or somewhere in the middle) we all like a good party and there's a host of activities right up your street. Whether its hanging out on the Village Green and taking part in some traditional field games (open to all ages) or trying your hand on some special jubilee themed sideshows and pastimes - make a bee-line to The Apple Cart for some original Diamond material. Take part in the Human Flotilla or turn your hand to the Mexican Royal Wave. Plus Princess and the Pea-Podding contest, What the Dickens/Name that Monarch Medley, Cucumber Sandwich eating, Flag Waving Time Trials plus lashings of Tea and Cake from Dalston W.I and lots more
Live games from Venice As A Dolphin
Venice as a Dolphin will be hosting fruit-based games for all ages throughout the day, including Lemon Jousting and Blind Apple Bobbing. Everyone welcome. Fruit provided
Little Pips play area
Little Pips is The Apple Cart's friendly stewarded child-centred space ; somewhere where parents can go with their little ones to relax and regroup. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor play space and equipment, lots of toys, plus drop in craft, art, music and dance activities guaranteed to inspire and involve the under 5’s. There’s also quiet zones for nappy changing and baby feeding – a perfect base for families with younger kids to dip in and out of over the festival day.
